Spot Of Winter Fishing At Rushes ?

In January this year we were invited out to Rushes Lake by Catcherbaits, the company now responsible for supplying the bait to Rushes, not wanting miss the chance of a spot of winter fishing we were soon on our way.

We arrived at the lake early on the Saturday morning, the sun was out and shining brightly, this we discovered was the first time in two weeks that it had made an appearance, anyway with swims sorted we were soon settled and ready to commence battle.

I have to be honest and say that I struggled all week with my biggest being just over 25lb, but on the other side of the lake, the owner of Catcherbaits, Frank and his fishing buddy for the week, Scot, absolutely tore the lake to pieces and really showed me how to do it, fish after fish kept falling to their rods, much to my annoyance and envy, but fair play they worked hard and their tactics for the week certainly paid of with Tigernut & Maple Boilies doing the business.

Scot caught the most throughout the week with his biggest coming in at 28lb, so a big well done to him and a big thanks to Frank from Catcherbaits for organizing the trip and thank you to Kim & Iain for their exceptional hospitality.

The day we left the lake, the diggers moved in to start work on rebuilding and extending the existing swims and re-doing the pathways, unfortunately disaster struck only three hours into works when the digger started to tip over, the operator tried to jump clear but in the process broke his leg badly and spent the next few days in hospital, so best wishes go to Paul, get well soon.

A CHALLENGE !

The owners of Rushes Lake, Iain & Kim have laid down a challenge for the New Year & season, their current lake record for a Carp is 42lb 5oz, and anyone who can break this record will be in with a chance to win a week’s free fishing at Rushes.
