After stopping for supplies at the Supermarket 5 minutes away for some supplies the first thing that struck me was the stunning Chateaux we passed on the path towards the lake. We drove the last 100 yards through the apple orchard down to the lake. With a fully equipped luxury mobile home on the site right next to one of the swims this place is ideal for a group or a family looking for a relaxing break. I set up in the second swim about 30 yards down from the mobile home. Looking out from the swim there were trees either side and over the far side of the lake you could see the top of the village Church which added to the scenery. Now the fishing i can only describe it as the best fishing session i have ever had. I fished 2x36 hour sessions with a break for 12 hours in the middle. In that time i had 29 fish with 21 of those over 10lb to 31lb being a fish known as 'the cod' due to the enormous size of its head. The catch rate only slowed down when the bait began to run out. As for the bait that was Bounty Hunter Baits Peach and Black Pepper and this was the second time i have used this bait and was lucky enough to meet Phill the owner and have to say he is a top guy. The first time i used this bait it was delivered to the lake where i was fishing freshly rolled. I am so impressed with this bait that i now fish with it in England.

I first fished La Vieille last Easter, we had been looking for a short break family holiday and had been told about the lake by friends, all I knew about the place was that it was tucked away behind a châteaux and that it had a luxury static mobile on site, great just what the Doctor ordered. The fishing was frantic, I took over 20 fish out for only ten hours of fishing, 32lb 8ozs being the biggest, 2x26lbers a 24lb ghostie a few other 20s, a lake record Koi which got me a bottle of Champagne and a host of other fish between 10 to 20lb. My wife and daughter who had never fished before also got amongst the action, the wife taking a 22lb+ Common and my daughter managed to catch a load of fish to 17lb. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good sport with stunning facilities available, great for families or a group of friends who want a social trip

This being my first time fishing in France, I was a bit apprehensive as my husband had promised me that I'd be comfy and warm. He wasn't wrong, the mobile home at La Vieille Douve had everything you could possibly need to accommodate you for the week. I even got in a little fishing and managed to land a 22½lb common (my first fish!!!!!) which, at the time, beat my husband's PB by 5lb. I was hooked (pardon the pun) then and since been back to La Vieille Douve and planning another trip very soon too. The village is within walking distance should you decide to stroll past the amazing 16th Century Chateaux which overlooks the lake.My kids even enjoyed it and having the luxury of the mobile home was brilliant as we had rain and luckily we could play games inside whilst "daddy" continued to fish and pulled out a 32lber
