Le Monument is divided up by a large island, which gives the lake a horseshoe shape.

The depths in the lake range from 2 and 3ft in the shallows to 12ft at its deepest, the bottom of the lake is mainly gravel and sand, with pockets of weed and silt, and is rich in natural foods, so good that swan mussels can be found on the lake-bed.

The features on this lake are in abundance, as mentioned the lake has a large Island in the centre, ideal target area for your baits as the carp patrol the island regular, the margins offer excellent fishing, with over hanging trees, bushes and reed beds all hotspots for placing your baits, there is also a large set of  lily pads which provides cover for the fish in the warmer months but gives the angler another target area, and also at one end of the lake there are two large historic boulders, another ideal spot for placing a bait.

The swims have been constructed to give the angler plenty of space and comfort and can easily accommodate the largest of bivvies but also with the lake being tree lined, offer you plenty of shade in the summer months. To ensure that you have plenty of room, only 5 anglers at anyone time are allowed to fish Le Monument, though this can be altered to tailor for larger parties fishing together.

Le Monument is home to a good stock of quality specimen carp The lake was originally stocked 20yrs ago by its former owner who never allowed anyone to fish for them, so a few big surprises could be in store for someone, the new owners, Mark and Angela have undertaken a stocking program to ensure that guests are not disappointed, so in addition to the existing stock, a further 120 carp, with an even split of Mirrors and Commons to 40lb were added into the lake.

To further compliment the fishing at Le Monument and to add some diversity, the owners have had an additional stocking; in January 2007 the owners added Grass carp to 20lb, Sturgeon to 15lb and a few Catfish up to 25lb.

2007 will see the gates open at Le Monument for the first time to anglers, non of these fish have ever seen a hook, they are all virgin fish, so nothing technical rig wise should be needed to catch them, this is an out and out runs water.

The fish in Le Monument are all in immaculate condition, to maintain there condition and growth rates, the owners have been feeding these fish since they took over with a highly nutritional pellet feed, this program will continue throughout the year to ensure that they receive the necessary dietary requirements.

The Facilities at Le Monument are simple and basic but more than adequate for a week’s Drive & Survive fishing in France, on site there is a toilet (there are no shower facilities on site, the owner is more than happy for you to use the shower in his house.)

Situated near to the toilet is the log cabin, ideal for relaxing in or storing your gear, next to the cabin there is a BBQ area great for those social gatherings after a hard days hauling. A small tackle & bait shop is also available on site should you run out of anything. A food package is an optional extra available at Le Monument, but should you not want to take advantage of this then the local town is less than 5mins away in a car.

Struggling to cram everything into your car for a weeks fishing is a nightmare, so available on site at no extra charge are full Carp setups, however a small deposit is required to cover against damage.

Le Monument is a brand new venue; this secluded 5 acre runs water is ideal for the beginner or more experienced angler and can provide you with all you need for a Drive & Survive holiday but with a few creature comforts added in.

The owners Mark & Angela have spent an enormous amount of time turning this venue into the stunning fishery it is today, they are determined that your time here is a memorable occasion and will do all they can in ensuring that it is, just bring plenty of spare batteries for your camera’s as you will need them.
