La Vieille Douve is approximately 4.5 acres in size and is fully tree lined with willows, oaks and pines, and is nestled amongst fields of maize, cassis and a large apple orchid, all of which is over looked by a 16th châteaux.

The lake depths start at 3ft in the shallows to 16ft at the dam wall; the lake bed is snag free and clean and is mostly sandy with the odd patches of silt and gravel and offers very good bait presentation.

There are four permanent swims on the lake that all give the angler plenty of open water to fish in, but the margins should not be ignored on La Vieille Douve. The bank side is very flat and grassy and makes bivvying up very easy and comfortable should you not wish to make use of the accommodation, which is situated right next to swim one.

La Vieille Douve has a current stock of over 300 carp.

The lake has a very mixed stock of Commons, Mirrors, koi, Ghosties.

The Mirrors that were stocked range from 15lb up to 44lb.
The Commons that were stocked range from 15lb up to 40lb.
The Koi, which were stocked, go up to 12lb.
The Ghosties are a mystery, we have had a few caught which went to 24lb early this year, these fish must have been present before the lakes last stocking.

The fish in La Vieille douve have seen little pressure, so fishing is relatively easy; nothing technical or fancy is required to catch them.
The fish are all in immaculate condition, and fight long and hard to the net.

The lake also has black bass, perch, roach and pike; these predator fish were stocked to keep the fish stocks in check.
There are no Catfish, Poisson Chat or Crayfish in the lake.

The facilities at La Vieille Douve are superb for families or small groups of friends to spend a comfortable relaxing holiday in.

On site for your use there is a seven-berth static caravan, which will provide you with all the creature comforts of home, and is situated right beside the lake giving you splendid views across the lake and the fields and forests to the rear and sides.

The mobile home has English plug sockets fitted and you will have plenty of hot water available day and night.

The kitchen is fully fitted, with a full size fridge freezer, an oven and hob, sink and plenty of cupboard space to put all your food and supplies away.
The kitchen has all the utensils you will require.

Living Room
The settee can be pulled out to make another double bed should you require it.
There is ample room for 10 people to sit down and enjoy a meal or a drink.
Should it get a bit chilly, there is also a gas fire for your comfort.
Plenty of additional cupboard space, and should you require it there is further storage under some of the other settees.

La Vieille Douve is an excellent little venue that is set in stunning surroundings, the lake and accommodation are perfect for families and small groups looking to add a social feel to their trip.
